Sony Dsc F707 Drivers For Mac
Hi AllThis may be a common problem, sorry if I missed some of the previous posts, but I just got my F707 on Friday and I am eager to get shooting. Problem is, the memory stick is full (Surprise??).I tried to connect the camera to my PC to download the pictures, but I have no luck.I installed the driver form the CD. Rebooted the PC. Then connected the cable to teh camera, then to the PC. Switched camera on ( In play mode). The device manager only comes up once (manual says it should come up twice) and insits, that the camera is an unknown USB device and it has no drivers. The camera does not show up as a removable drive and Photosuite does not find the camera.

I removed the 'unknown device', reinstalled the driver and tried again, but the same.I am running an AMD Athlon, Windows ME.I cannot find the driver on my PC to connect the 'Unknown Device' Manually. Where does Sony store this driver? Please, any fast answers appreciated, as it will be raining soonThanksSabine. I would suggest you try to remove all USB device and connect the F707 only and try again.GoldenHammersabine hallerwrote:Hi AllThis may be a common problem, sorry if I missed some of theprevious posts, but I just got my F707 on Friday and I am eager toget shooting. Are you plugging the camera into a USB hub or into the computer directly? If into a hub, try plugging directly into the computer or try a different USB socket.Good luck.,Mike G. I haven't got any other USB Devices.I have 2 USB Ports on the front of my PC.
I tried both of them. Camera shows USB Mode/Normal.I also have 4 USB ports on the back of my Monitor. I tried the camera in those as well, but the camera does not show USB Mode, so I take it, that they don't work. The My Computer/Properties list shows the camera connected to the USB port, but Windows insits, that it is an unknown device and installs a generic driver. I have also tried to manually install the driver from the CD. No difference. Windows complains, that it isn't the right driver, and that the device is not working properly.I do have Windows XP lying around here, but can't install it, as my Printer is not compatible (it is a fax/printer and we need the fax and I can't afford to buy a new fax and printer). The only thing I have noticed, is, that I haven't connected the camera to the power outlet, as I do not have one free anywhere near my PC.
I have connected just as is. Would that make a difference?
Batteries are still more than half full (236min left).I have also tried to restore the PC to an earlier date and reinstall the driver and do the same thing again, but the device manager still insits, that it is an unknown device. Why does windows allways have to have the last word??? Someone else had a problem with ME.
Read this post of mine and others for possible help. The 707 will work with MEWhat is listed in device manager under Universal serial bus controllers? If you plug in and turn the camera on, is anything else listed?Other things to try:Go into our BIOS and enalbe all USB ports. Then try the ones in the back of the comuter.Remove the drivers you installed, reboot and go into safe mode and do a fresh install of the drivers. Sometimes a virus scanner or some other program running in the background in windows will interfere with a clean install.Good luckMike G. Hello MikeI read through that post from Connie and it sounds just like my problem.Did she ever get a solution? I am afraid that I refuse to buy a memory stick reader.
I bought a camera for £1000 and a PC for £1500. I expect them to work for that price, without having to add another £60 for a card reader. That would be a rip off. What is listed in device manager under Universal serial bus controllers? Properties shows the device as disabled, as it hasn't got the necessary drivers???
It also shows error code 10Microsoft Device Manager Error Code 10If the device has a 'FailReasonString' in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator places this registry string value there.
If there is no 'FailReasonString' in the Hardware key, the following error message is displayed:This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all drivers installed (Code10)Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.Solution: Update driver.I get the generic code. I tried to update the driver, but windows wants to install the windows driver. So I went into show all hardware, update driver from there (Sony DSC). Windows did that.
But I still can't see the camera and still get error code 10.I did have a look at the diver properties and noticed they all say NT in them. I have Windows ME though, so NT drivers would not work.I also tried to download the driver from Sony, but same result. You said to uninsatll the drivers / camera? How????I can't find the drivers, as Sony does not tell me where it places them.
The camera disappears from my PC as soon as I switch it off ( I thought this was the point of USB )?This is driving me mad. I have wasted my whole day on this now, and still have a full memory stick. Thanks for your help though. Third, the soloists are Russian and in the pure yet rich mezzo soprano of and the strong yet tender tenor of the aching beauty of 's lyrical writing comes through as in few other recordings. Fourth, while all the performers are Russian, the recording is Western and thus the sound is as clear and warm as the best Western recordings. Second, the director is a dedicated choral conductor, which means that he's not using this disc as an audition for recording operas, oratorios, or symphonies, but rather doing it for the sake of the music. First, of course, the choir is Russian, which means that they've got the right tone, the right technique, the right intonation, and, best of all, the right basses for the job because no choir anywhere can hit low B flats like Russian basses. Competition, one could persuasively argue that this 1993 recording with directing the is the best.

I have wasted my whole day on this now, andstill have a full memory stick. Thanks for your help though.Sabine,I understand your frustration. But, don't blame it on the camera.
This is a computer issue. I recently had a similar problem with a friend's computer and camera.
We couldn't get the camera recognized as a removable drive. Then, we tried a USB webcam and found that wouldn't work either. USB had never been used on the computer. There was a problem with the motherboard and/or VIA USB drivers.
After trying to fix it for two days, I bought a 4 port USB 2 add on PCI card for $30.00 US at CompUSA and installed it in an empty PCI slot. Everything worked, including the Kyocera camera and my Sony. There probably was a way to fix the computer, but it was cheaper and faster to buy and install the add on USB card.If your computer is stlll under warranty, call tech support for the manufacturer. This could be a know issue with an easy, walk through fix or download. There may be info on the manufacturer's web site. If you are not under warranty, I would:1. Install the Sony driver on a friend's computer and look at your pictures.
That will ease some of the frustration and you will know its not your new $1000 camera that has the problem.2. Back up all important data and files on your computer. Have your windows ME CD handy.3.
Reboot and key F5 repeatedly after the memory check. This will by-pass all drivers and take you into Safe Mode. Open devise Manager and go to the USB comtroller list. You may see more entries than you did in windows. Remove all items listed there, by right clicking on each one and clicking uninstall. When they are all removed, restart and go into Safe Mode again.
Windows will find new hardware and reinstall the USB drivers. It may need the ME CD to complete. Then, run the sony CD and install the Sony drivers.See if the camera is recognized.
If not, I would try installing a USB add on card. Much cheaper than taking your computer some place for repair.I totally agree that a $1500 computer should turn on and work properly just like your TV does. But, they don't, and probably won't for some years to comeIf you have other questions, it may be faster to email me directly atmikegg@earthlink.netI'll be here for a couple of hours and then in and out.Good luck and don't give up on your camera. You will love it!Mike G.
Sabine, are the USB ports of your PC working with other USB devices? If not, you may try new VIA drivers (assuming you have a VIA chipset):Ivosabine hallerwrote:Hi AllThis may be a common problem, sorry if I missed some of theprevious posts, but I just got my F707 on Friday and I am eager toget shooting.
