Pros:When Gigabyte says 'Ultra Durable' they MEAN it.Triple Channel RAM. I currently have 18gb of it. Most high end boards have caught up but this ruled for a long time.CPU compatibility.
I bought an I-7 920 and ran it for many years overclocked to 3.4 on air. I switched to a self contained water setup and managed to get 4GHz stable. Out of a 2.4GHz chip.Now i'm looking at buying an I7-980x from a guy for $179. Mind you this was a 1k+ chip new. 6 Cores overclockable to 4.5GHz. Difficult to contend with that, especially at that price point.Flexible. I've gone through 2 PSU's and 4 or 5 vid cards since the day i installed it.
Never anything but rock solid. I can't remember ever having a BSOD with this board. I upgraded BIOS(es) over the years with no problems.I will probably never buy another motherboard that does not say 'Gigabyte' on it.This also came with wifi as something you could plug into your board. I never needed it so it's still in the box.I did install a USB 3 card in it to modernize it a bit.I have it in a CM Stacker with more fans than I can count, plus it's on a water loop now.Cons:It's old. I'd like to put a Devils Canyon in it haha.The SATA ports are poorly places making nice cable running tough. My case has no window so I don't really care.Overall Review:In a word: Dependability. I don't know if they even make mobo's this good any more.
This is a serious piece of kit. Pros:This board is rock solid. It's got all the features you'll probably ever need, including a plethora of USB ports, 8 SATA ports, and even the 12 phase power management system. The board stays cool thanks to its massive aluminium heat-sink on both the north bridge and the south bridge chipset. All the slots work and offer a wide range of customisability, like 3-way crossfire/SLI support and other pci slots for wifi cards for example.
In terms of overclocking, it is an absolute dream. Since day one it's had an i7 920 @ 4GHz, and to this day it can still do 4GHz easily. It's also had 6GB of ram @ 1600MHz in triple channel mode running flawlessly.
As far as the bios goes, it is easy to navigate through and has a wide range of settings to adjust. There is also good support over on the Gigabyte website. Overall though, a great board that will satisfy anyone.Cons:Despite the pros, I did encounter a slight problem one day with this board. It wouldn't recognise one of my graphics cards, where it would work in another system.

The Xeon 5660's for example are still tops, same as the 980x still challenging ivybridge-e, This board has know been in 4 different cases just to keep the build demon at bay and while I have to use pcie 1x cards to get the needed usb 3 ports the fact that they are above the dual 6850's makes it so sweet. Love this board, so much that i've been shopping a 970 for it but they are still too much money so 920 at 3.8 is where it will have to stay.
